In December 1979, the Anambra State Government of Nigeria issued a circular letter, REF. IN(S) 122/V/79 on the building of new schools. Based on this, the N.C.D.U, through it's chairman and secretary (late Dr. Prof. F.N Udeh and late Mazi U.C Umenukor) made a formal application to the then Aguata Local Government for the building of a secondary school at Ndiowu

The first two blocks was build for the class rooms through a communal effort of the people of Ndiowu, when the ministry of Education provided the community at that time, the school was no longer opened. The school was founded by His Lordship Late Bishop A.K Obiefuna, the then catholic bishop of Awka diocese and handed over the School to the Congregation of Daughters of Mary Mother Of Mercy, to own, manage and develop.
